Before I start writing anything about this prestigious exam I must confess one thing that is to succeed in an exam of this kind you need hard work and luck.In my case I believe luck helped a lot.
Last year on 12th September the 1st round of the PO exam took place..first round had four sections,a)General knowledge and computers, b) mathematics, c)Logical reasoning and d)English.50 question in each section ,1 mark each.I believe that simple R.S.Agarwal book is good enough to crack this round.Though I didn't do it.As I was preparing for CAT,that helped a lot. This round has negative marking.
I appeared for the second round of this exam on 30th November. This round had two part.Part 1 had mcq exam and in Part 2 we had to face a test on English ,pure writing skill test.
Part 1 also had four section, a)Logical Reasoning,b)Data Interpretation,c)English and
d)Marketing Knowledge.I think for data interpretation one needs to be a bit cautious, follow proper magazines/books,solve some papers if possible. In this regard I can suggest the name of magazines like Competition success review, banking chronicle etc.I personally like to read the magazine competition success review,it's a rich magazine for any competitive exam. For marketing paper there's a book available in the market. My friend Soumyadeep suggested that book. It's a book for only SBI PO Round 2 exam published by KIRAN's Publication. It's a helpful one to some extent and just by using your common sense you can score a lot in this paper.I can assure you that Round 2/Part 2 exam is much tougher that previous one.
Well, in the writing skill section I think one needs to put more stress on writing correct, both grammatical and spelling error less English.Only these two things alone can fetch you good marks plus you need to have the ability to express your views clearly.Letter writing, essay etc may come, little practice can bring you good marks. It's important to score high in this section to clear the overall cut-off for interview round.
I had my Group discussion and interview on 10th February 2009.I can tell you guys only one thing those interviewers are unthinkably experienced and exceptionally brilliant at reading your mind.Be honest .And I must say you need luck on your side.Confidence will surely sail you through this gd/pi.The result was published on 7th march,2009.So from 12th September 2008 to 7th March 2009,it's a huge test of patience and hard work and luck and a complex combination of many ifs and buts.Somehow I got through.I thank everyone for that.
Any one who wishes to take SBI PO exam ,I wish best of luck.
